As he was setting the table for dinner on Thursday night Easton asked how many he should set the table for.
Mom: Four.
Easton: Our family keeps getting smaller! We need our family back.
That was pretty profound for an almost eight year old. With Ashton in college and Stephen being gone during the week the dinner table crowd is pretty small at our super-sized table. We look forward to Christmas when every chair will have a family member in it.
Oh Easton, just wait for about 5 more years when you'll be the only one at the dinner table,,, the spotlight will be on, the house will be dark and dim, and there will be you, a 13 year old sitting with two old people, one on each end, eating wheat hearts, and bran muffins!
ReplyDeleteYes, I feel your pain!,,,, just kidding, it wasn't that bad all the time... ha ha ha
Janelle I laughed at your comment.
ReplyDeleteI guess I need to enjoy our meals together more, all to soon our family will start shrinking too.
What a cute observation from Easton. All of a sudden it happens to you. A strange time in life.
ReplyDeleteIt will be okay, Janelle, just let it all out.
ReplyDeleteWE complain because we are all so squished around our table, but in the larger scheme of things, that's only a temporary situation. We need to enjoy the crowd.
